I would like twitch's official position on DMCA and the streaming of copyrighted games. The DMCA specifically prohibits broadcasting of content without the specific written permission of the content owner. Computer games are licensed and are copyrighted so a player does not own the content, making streaming technically illegal.
I ask this because it takes a long time to build a channel and a brand and build up a following and it would be very poor business practice to pursue this doing something that is illegal.
Having a "good relationship" with game publishers is not the same as written consent and still exposes the channel broadcaster to liability.
This does not matter to small-time casters but if the market gets bigger and bigger and viewers start surpassing 100k regularly then people will start taking notice and these things need to be cleared up ahead of time.
